 COMPILE CARE PACKAGES FOR SOLDIERS

AGES 8–12

Show your support for the armed forces by making care packages with your children for soldiers deployed overseas. Get in touch with local nonprofit organizations or contact a local military base to find out what type of supplies are needed and how the packages should be prepared. Then, send your kids on a scavenger hunt to find items to include in the care packages. Soldiers are often in need of hygiene items such as toothpaste, baby powder, deodorant, and shaving cream, and clothes like cotton socks. If you don’t have these unopened items on hand, you can always take a trip to the local store to let your kids pick out toiletries. Add a personal touch to your package by having each kid write a letter of gratitude or color a picture.
